The Trail – Step by Step
The trail begins in Chochołowska Valley, where you first cross Polana Chochołowska. From here, you’ll head toward Trzydniowiański Peak, with the option of two routes:
Variant 1 (Papal Trail) – This route starts gently and becomes steeper near the summit. The hike begins in Jarząbcza Valley, and you will pass through Wyżnia Jarząbcza Polana. Be sure to stop and admire the view of Jarząbczy Peak (2137 m), one of the highest in the area.
Variant 2 – This variant is a bit steeper, but shorter. It starts at Polana Trzydniówka, about 20 minutes from the Chochołowska Hut. The trail goes through Krowi Żleb, a steep ravine leading up toward Kulawiec Ridge.
After about 2 hours, you’ll reach Trzydniowiański Peak (1758 m). The peak is a fantastic spot to rest and take in the 360-degree view, which includes Kominiarski Wierch, Ornak, Starorobociański, and Kończysty Peak.
Now, you’ll continue towards Kończysty Peak (2002 m), where the views along the way are simply stunning. The section between the two peaks is easy, mostly following a grassy ridge. Don’t forget to stop and enjoy the spectacular views of Rohacze, Wołowiec, and the far-reaching vistas of the High Tatras.
In about 45 minutes, you’ll reach the summit of Kończysty Peak, the highest point of the trail. From here, the panoramic view is even broader, covering peaks like Bystra, Kamienista, Tomanowy Peak, and the famous Rohacze.
