Tatra Main Trail to Łomnicki Staw

Obrovský Waterfall and Zamkovského Hut
After about twenty minutes, we reach Obrovský Waterfall, one of the highlights of the trail. This magnificent waterfall cascades down from the Mała Zimna Woda Valley, making it a perfect spot for a short rest. Shortly after the waterfall, we pass another beautiful view of the Staroleśna Valley. The next stop is a trail junction near Zamkovského Hut, an ideal place to take a break and enjoy a hot drink.

The Path to Skalnatá Chata (Łomnickie Hut)
The trail continues gently uphill, leading through alpine forests and offering stunning views of the Zimna Woda Valley. Soon, we reach the Skalnatá Chata (Łomnickie Hut), a well-known spot not only for its charming atmosphere but also for its connection to the history of Tatra porters. The hut’s owner, Laco Kulanga, holds the record for carrying a 207 kg load to the hut, an impressive feat that is commemorated by a plaque at the entrance.
Łomnicki Staw – Our Destination
Just a few more steps from the hut bring us to Łomnicki Staw. This enchanting spot, located at an altitude of 1751 m, is surrounded by majestic peaks – Łomnica (2634 m) and Kieżmarski Peak (2556 m) – creating an unforgettable vista. Although the lake is not very large, its surroundings provide a peaceful, picturesque setting. The view of Huncowski Peak (2352 m) completes the panorama perfectly.
