Starorobociańska Valley – step by step

The Starorobociańska Valley, also known as the Old Mining Valley, is rich in history – it was here, as early as the 16th century, that the oldest mines in the Tatras were active. The trail follows the Starorobociański Stream. Although the initial stretches are fairly gentle, most of the trail will lead you through forests and vast meadows, gradually revealing more and more scenic beauty.

After Starorobociańska Meadow, the trail becomes steeper, and at Starorobociańska Rówień, you will be greeted with a breathtaking view of Starorobociański Peak, the main objective of your hike. From here, you will feel that the effort is truly worth it. The towering peak stands proudly at 2176 meters above sea level.

Żleb pod Pyszną – the more challenging section

At this point, the trail becomes more demanding. You will reach the Żleb pod Pyszną, where you will encounter a short but steep section. Pay attention to the dwarf pine and gentle rises that lead toward the Siwa Pass (a saddle at 2000 meters). Here, you will be rewarded with a panoramic view of the upper part of Kościeliska Valley and Ornak, beautifully framed by the surrounding landscape.

Final stretch – ascent to the summit

From Siwa Pass, the final, steeper section of the hike awaits. Be prepared for a more difficult ascent, as some sections are loose and gravelly. While the climb is challenging, with focus and caution, you will soon approach your goal.

The last stretch leads through Liliowy Karb and Gaborowa Pass, offering stunning views of the Bystra mountain massif and the vast Gaborowa Valley. As you continue along the ridge, you will be rewarded with panoramic vistas, including a spectacular view of the Western Tatras.

In conclusion

Starorobociański Peak is the perfect choice for those seeking a moderate challenge in the mountains but not wanting to embark on extreme trails. Whether you’re hiking solo or with friends, remember to prepare properly: wear sturdy shoes, bring enough water, and pack warm clothes. In return for your effort, you’ll be rewarded with magnificent panoramic views that will stay with you long after you’ve descended!
