The trail – step by step
Your hiking day starts in Kościeliska Valley, near the Cudakowa and Stare Kościeliskie meadows. Getting to this point takes about 15 minutes of walking from the entrance of the valley in Kir. If you’re coming from the direction of Przysłop Miętusie, simply turn left onto the main road in the valley, then head towards Cudakowa Polana, where you’ll turn right onto the black-marked trail.
The first part of the trail leads you through the forest, and after about half an hour of walking, you’ll reach Przysłop Kominiarski (1124 m above sea level). This is a great place for a short rest, and if it starts to rain, you can take shelter in a nearby hut.
After the rest, continue along the trail, which leads downhill, passing through Niżnia Polana Kominiarska. Here, a yellow-marked trail branches off to the right, leading down to the Lejowa Valley. After a short walk, you’ll begin the steep ascent to Kominiarska Pass (1307 m above sea level), the highest point of the trail.
From the pass, the trail becomes easier, leading downhill through Polana Jamy, one of the most picturesque spots on the route – a beautiful meadow surrounded by forest and mountain peaks. This is a perfect place to stop for a moment, enjoy the views, and recharge before the final part of the descent.
The trail ends at Chochołowska Valley, about halfway between the Siwa Polana parking lot and the Polana Chochołowska mountain hut. This area is often more crowded, but the trail itself is much quieter and less frequented.
