  • Ticket purchase – It’s recommended to buy a ticket for the gondola to Lomnica as early as possible. Tickets for Lomnické Sedlo are not as difficult to obtain, but still, during peak season, arriving early is advisable.

  • Clothing – Although the cable car ride is not physically demanding, it can be quite chilly at higher altitudes, even in summer. Be sure to bring warm clothing and a rain jacket.

How does the journey unfold?

Arriving at Lomnické Pleso, we buy a ticket for the cable car and then choose one of two available options: a trip to Lomnické Sedlo or to the summit of Lomnica.

    1. Cable Car to Lomnické Sedlo: This is the simplest option, accessible to everyone. The chairlift takes us up to 2190 meters above sea level, and from here, it’s just a short walk (15 minutes) to reach the Wielka Łomnicka Baszta (Great Lomnicka Tower). It’s worth stopping here for a moment to admire the views of nearby peaks, such as the Lodowy Szczyt (Ice Peak) and Gerlach. The entire journey to Lomnické Sedlo takes about 10–15 minutes, and the hike to the tower takes an additional 30 minutes round-trip.

    2. Cable Car to Lomnica: This is the more exciting option, though it requires a bit more patience. The gondola operates in a shuttle service, taking 15 people at a time. The waiting time for tickets can be several hours, as many people want to reach the summit. The gondola ride lasts about 10 minutes, and from the summit of Lomnica (2634 meters above sea level), a 360-degree panorama of the Tatras unfolds. The time spent on the summit is limited to around 40 minutes – enough to enjoy the view, take photos, and feel like you’re on the rooftop of the Tatras. The summit path is equipped with metal railings, and the stunning views of nearby peaks like Gerlach, Krywań, and Rysy are breathtaking.

Estimated time for the trip:

Z Łomnickiego Stawu do Łomnickiej Przełęczy (kolejka krzesełkowa): około 10-15 minut.
Wielka Łomnicka Baszta: 15 minut w jedną stronę.
Z Łomnickiej Przełęczy na Łomnicę (gondola): około 10 minut.
